Fueled by her passion for helping clients address their concerns and fears around money and how it impacts their families, Helen Stephens, CFP®, EA, CEPA, founded Aspen Wealth Management in 2011. Her leadership is driven by more than 25 years of experience specializing in retirement and tax planning for those nearing and transitioning into retirement.
Helen is a frequent speaker on the subject of women and money and has taught Financial Understanding for Women through the Extended Education department at Texas Christian University (TCU). She is a graduate of the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University (SMU) with a bachelor’s degree in finance. As a thought leader in the field of retirement and tax planning, she is regularly quoted in publications, including The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Oprah Magazine, and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Helen proudly served on the board of Habitat for Humanity for six years, culminating with a stint as the President of the Board, and she continues to be a committed volunteer for the organization. Her community volunteerism also extends to projects at Christ Chapel Bible Church, where she is an active member.
Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Helen and her husband John live in Fort Worth. She enjoys spending quality time with her three adult children, Hannah, Amanda, and Jack, as well as time outdoors gardening, hiking, and traveling to new places to take in the sights and meet interesting people.

Candace Scholz is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and joined Aspen Wealth Management in 2015. Prior to joining the firm, she held various roles within the healthcare industry, from Director of Services to Physician Development. Dedicated and goal orientated, she is driven to evaluate and apply appropriate strategic solutions for our clients and their portfolios.
A graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in management, Candace went on to obtain a Master of Healthcare Administration at Washington University in St. Louis. She then received her Master of Science in Personal Financial Planning at Texas Tech University.
Candace is actively involved in Outsiders Ministry, Financial Planning Association of Dallas/Fort Worth, National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, and serves on the board of the Glen Rose Chamber of Commerce and Glen Rose Little Dribblers Association. She and her two children reside in the DFW area and, when not at work, she can be found cheering her children.
Nathan Davis, CFP®, CFA, is the Chief Investment Officer at Aspen Wealth Management, where he provides clients with comprehensive financial planning. Additionally, he is responsible for research, trading, portfolio monitoring, and alternative investments such as private equity, credit, and real estate for the firm, while also leading the investment committee to determine portfolio asset allocations, security selection, and risk management measures.
A graduate of Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in applied economic management with a focus on personal financial planning, he was recognized in Fort Worth Business Press’ 40 Under 40 2021 class and D Magazine’s Best Financial Planners 2021 (multi-year winner). Outside of the office, Nathan serves on the board of directors of the Tarrant County Homeless Coalition (TCHC), the steering committee of WORTH North Texas Community Foundation, and as treasurer of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association DFW Chapter.
A native of Annapolis, Maryland, he, his wife Emily, and their son make Fort Worth their home. When not working, Nathan enjoys playing golf, watching Virginia Tech sports, reading, and trying to make his lawn look perfect.

John W. Stephens is the Chief Operating Officer of Aspen Wealth Management, responsible for human resources, compliance, internal operations, and strategic initiatives. He brings 30 years of diverse experience as a senior administrator in the education sector and a broad educational background, including a BS from Lawrence University and an MS from Xavier University.
He’s always willing to answer tough questions, step up to a challenge, and roll up his sleeves alongside the team to get the job done. His favorite piece of advice comes in the form of a famous quote from coach Vince Lombardi who said, “The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work,” and he strives to abide by it in his role at Aspen every day.
A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, John and his wife Helen reside in Fort Worth and have three children. In his spare time, he enjoys ice hockey, fishing, hunting, reading, golf, and cooking.
Jim Davis, CFP®, joined Aspen as a Senior Wealth Advisor in 2021. In this role, he provides comprehensive financial planning and develops strategies for clients that address their financial, investment, insurance, tax, and estate planning needs, with particular expertise in serving the unique challenges of small business owners.
Whether his clients are buying their first home, growing their family, changing careers, making the leap into retirement, using resources they’ve built to overcome a hardship, or pulling the trigger on the vacation home they’ve always wanted, nothing brings him more joy than walking alongside them every step of the way.
Jim is driven by a commitment to working with people who are passionate about curating experiences with their loved ones, creating legacies for their families, and passing down values and traditions to other generations. He strives to help clients unearth and clarify what they want in life to bridge the gap between aspirations and resources.
Jim is a graduate of Abilene Christian University with a master’s degree in Organizational Communication. In his time away from work, he enjoys spending time with his wife Pyper and their three children at their home in Fort Worth, as well as reading and spending time outdoors. Jim and his family are members of The Hills Church and are actively involved in the local community.
Matthew A. Quezergue is a financial planning associate with Aspen Wealth Management, playing a critical strategic support role during meetings, plan preparation, and client services.
Matthew is a 2021 graduate of Texas A&M University with a BBA in finance, a minor in financial planning, and a thorough internship experience under his belt. He is driven to help clients navigate their financial journey and ensure that money is never a hindrance to them accomplishing their goals.
Originally from San Antonio, Matthew has a black belt in karate and enjoys cooking, working out, listening to podcasts and music, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Ella Radberg is a financial planning associate for Aspen Wealth Management, fulfilling a critical strategic support role in our client management process.
A 2022 University of North Texas graduate, Ella holds a bachelor’s degree in Risk, Insurance, and Financial Planning. During her time at UNT, she volunteered with the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) for “fee-only” advisors, attended the organization’s national conference as a volunteer, and facilitated a Charles Schwab campus career speaker series for students.
She believes well-managed finances are essential to personal well-being and that financial literacy leads to creating the life you want. Having completed coursework in estate planning, personal finance, taxation accounting, and investments, as well as an internship with Aspen, she’s enthusiastic about using her knowledge to help people.
Originally from Denton, she now lives in Fort Worth and enjoys traveling, trying new foods, and attending concerts and music festivals.
Ella will be sitting for the CFP exam in July of 2023 and is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA).
Michelle joined Aspen Wealth Management in 2013 as the Client Services Manager after 13 years in the corporate office of RadioShack Corporation. There, she played an integral role in the company’s division of franchise development. At Aspen, she performs multiple functions, including interacting with clients, preparing reports, performing account administration, and supporting the wealth management team.
Michelle lives in Aledo with her husband and their three children. Outside of her professional life, Michelle enjoys spending time with family and friends, scouting, working in her yard, and attending Fellowship Church.
